The story behind TEELS

For over a decade, energy consultant Roman wrestled with Excel setups for analysing load-curve data and other readings — bug-prone, slow to prepare, and limited in what they could do. Frustrating and time-consuming.

In 2024, a dedicated colleague took on building a Python tool. A noticeable step forward, if a little rough to use. But the reports it generated — and the analysis they made so much easier — caught the interest of other energy specialists, too. With multi-user operation, licensing, and above all the handling of sensitive data, though, the script quickly hit its limits. What it needed was a flexible, secure, and user-friendly platform.

The Energy Data Innovation Hackdays 2025 got the ball rolling. A small team took the Python approach apart and soon settled on a web-based path instead. Philipp saw the idea — and the value behind it. That same weekend he coded the first core functions, and over the following weeks a usable alpha took shape. The proof of concept held up.

We showed the tool to a hand-picked circle of energy specialists we knew, and the needs of the field became clear. Feedback and insights from the test phase fed continuously into development: ideas became concepts, build ideas became features, and a tool became a business.

With Ray, we brought a startup specialist on board, worked out a business plan between the three of us, and set off toward founding the company.

From the "tool for load-curve analysis and energy efficiency" came TEELS AG, officially founded in May 2026 in Bern, the Swiss capital.

The tool is now available to use as a SaaS solution. Since July 2026 the homepage has been live, our social channels are picking up, and the first customers are onboarded. As user numbers and feedback grow, so does the development — and we still have plenty of ideas…

We're convinced that our data platform can help every user take the quality of their analysis to a new level. We set ourselves ambitious goals: to put a strong tool into the hands of a whole field, for a modern, up-to-date way of analysing electricity data. In the age of the energy transition, we want to play our part on the road to a low-emission, efficient electricity future.
